I thought I would write a little bit about my trip to Alaska and some thoughts around vacations in general. Not a word about real estate lol.  My mom decided to take all four of us kids and our spouses on an Alaskan adventure. We started in Vancouver, British Columbia, on a spectacular small cruise ship called the Silver Whisper and cruised up the Inner Passageway to Seward, Alaska. We stopped at several little towns and did fun excursions. My favorite excursion was the Dog Sled Camp at Skagway! Then we took a bus to Talkeetna - such a cute little town! Then the glass top train up to Denali – just fantastic! I can not believe the snow-capped mountains upon mountains upon mountains upon mountains! The scenery is just unbelievable!

So my big thought is about rest and relaxation. On the cruise my favorite place was the library overlook on the top level – quiet, plush, and restful. There is something special about quiet, restful places that allow your mind to wander, dream, and recharge. It’s funny, when presented with the option of rest and quiet, we feel rejuvenated. It is so different from our crazy world, and we can be so separated from it in our daily lives – and yet we need and actually crave it for our souls to rest. I think about a lot of things that stress this – yoga, meditation, spirituality, libraries, etc. I have a quiet time in my morning every day, and if I miss it, my day just does not feel right. Do you have a quiet time in your day?
